Janet Markwick

Janet is a transformation specialist who operates at the high-impact intersection of creativity and commerce. Her entire 30+year career has been defined by maximizing the value of creative output. She spent over two decades within global brands like Coca-Cola and Sony, where she transformed multi-million-dollar marketing investments from 'wooden dollars' into high-performing 'working dollars,' directly fuelling more impactful creative work such as the SONY "Balls" campaign. 

She then transitioned to the agency side, joining WPP as CFO of Grey London before becoming EMEA Chief Commercial Officer across Grey and latterly Global VP Commercial Operations at Y&R. During her nine-year tenure, her team delivered consistent, significant growth by embedding "commercial creativity" as a core cultural principle. In 2019, she established her own consultancy, successfully helping brands, agencies and production companies reverse declining margins and reignite both commercial and creative performance. 

A trained ceramicist and sculptor with a degree in Art, Janet's unique perspective allows her to speak the language of both the balance sheet and the brainstorm. Her mission is to empower creative leaders with the commercial confidence they need to understand the true value of their ideas and grow with purpose. 

Janet is a Non-Executive Director at Creative UK (Chair of Finance & Business committee) and member of the IPA Finance & Business Committee. Janet founded J&R Collective in 2025, where Commercial Acumen Meets Creative Ambition. J&R Collective is a specialist commercial consultancy dedicated to elevating the business performance of the creative sector. 

Together with Co-Founder Rhona Glazebrook they partner with creative leaders as strategic advisors and hands-on consultants solving many of the core commercial challenges facing the industry: ensuring creativity and profitability are partners, not rivals.
